5.0 out of 5 stars What a moving legacy!, February 12, 2008
By  C. Kuschel-Toerber "Christian Kuschel" (Frankfurt, Hessen)

Recorded in 2005 as a Valentine's present for his wife Jean, she has now made this moving recording available for all of us. There will also be a full album out later in the year.

"Sometimes a Song" not only breaks my heart for the loss of this artist but because it is such a wonderful and emotional song. A simple recording (done at the former home studio) with an unforgettable melody, another addition to the outstanding catalogue of Dan Fogelberg's music.

Same Time, Next Year The Movie

I had some alone time this morning and decided to clean out a box of items that I hadn't looked through in a very long time.

Same Time, Next Year, the movie, along with the book are treasured items. Flipping through the book and looking at the case of the movie, I remembered how these touched my heart, so I decided to watch the movie, something I haven't done in a long time.

If you haven't seen Same Time Next Year...it's a good one...not perfect but alot of movies are good without being perfect.

Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn star as two people who find long, enduring love with each other despite being married to other people. A fateful meeting at a California inn leads the seemingly mismatched pair into 26-year-long affair in which they meet for only one weekend every year. The dissimilar and quirky characters of the two lovers drive the film, and both Burstyn and Alda soar while retaining the clay feet that make their characters so believable.

Originally a Broadway Play with only two characters. But oh those two characters..thanks to the acting skills of both actors, the movie plays well.

The two-person story stars Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn, both of whom are outstanding at conveying a myriad of emotions over 25 years as life gives and takes away, and the world moves on with changes thru the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Jonny Diaz Singing Other Guys

Family friend and childhood friend of my oldest, Jonny Diaz is exactly what you see and hear. Jonny's mother, Gwen Mitchell Diaz is a very dear friend that I trust will always be there should I need her.

Just as there is no fake to his mother, there is no fake to Jonathon. (I can't help but call him by the name I've known him by for so long)

BART MILLARD (lead singer of Mercy Me) says...
"The bottom line is Jonny Diaz is the real deal.
To stand in front of 7000 people with just your guitar and your voice, and keep the crowd captivated is a gift. Jonny has that gift and then some."

CCM MAGAZINE says...
“With Catchy hooks, toe-tapping melodies, and undeniable artistry, the Jonny Diaz Band grabs you at first listen. A former college baseball player, Diaz does smart, guitar-driven pop flawlessly.”

As a freshman at Florida State University, Jonny was focusing his time and talents as a member of the baseball team. However, God began a work in his life that led him to put down his bat and pick up his guitar.

At first glance, this may not seem like a very large decision, but when you consider that Jonny was the fourth Diaz boy to go to college with a baseball scholarship, it becomes evident that this was more than a pastime to the Diaz family. In fact, two of Jonny’s older brothers have played ball on a professional level. (Matt is currently the left fielder for the Atlanta Braves.) But, with God opening the doors, Jonny began an exciting new adventure. His tremendous song-writing talent, his vocal and guitar playing skills, and his ability to connect with his audience, have kicked off a grassroots buzz that has taken his music nationwide.

Shades of White,” was released in August 2003 as he entered his sophomore year of college. Its unique, uplifting rhythms; significant, life-touching lyrics; and great harmonies have made it popular with all age groups. Jonny’s debut CD continues to touch and change thousands of lives.

Jonny released his second CD in September 2005 as he entered his senior year at FSU. Everyday God maintains the acoustic vibe and melodic style that made his first record so popular, but it has a fuller, richer sound enhanced by additional instrumentation and electronic elements. The lyrics, the music, and the production represent Jonny’s growth as a musician and in his walk with God. They have caught the attention of radio DJs nationwide who dare to play indie music.

Jonny’s third CD, They Need Love was just recorded at Sputnik Studio in Nashville with Mitch Dane (producer for Jars of Clay, Bebo Norman, etc.) using back up musicians who consistently play with Caedmon’s Call, Jars of Clay, Dave Barnes, and Matt Wertz, Its recent release on March 22, 2007, has already received nationwide attention.

Independently, Jonny has racked up nearly 20,000 CD’s sold. It’s no wonder why he has captured the attention of some of Christian music’s largest record labels. However, this 25 year old seeks to find contentment right where he’s at. “I’m not apposed to signing a record deal. I have a very clear calling for where this music ministry should go. If someone wants to get behind that and push me further, I’m excited about that possibility.” Looks like we’ll have to wait and see what is next for this talented singer/songwriter.

Please don't pass up a chance to support Jonny Diaz by purchasing his CDs or merchandise from his online store
